The difference between aluminum substrate and PCB board

Aluminum substrate is a kind of metal base copper clad plate with good heat dissipation function. Generally, the single panel is composed of three layers, namely circuit layer (copper foil), insulation layer and metal base layer. There are two sides, the white side is soldered to the LED pin, and the other side is aluminum. Generally, it will be in contact with the heat-conducting part after applying heat-condensing paste.

Printed circuit board (PCB), Its design is mainly layout design. The main advantages of using circuit boards are that it greatly reduces wiring and assembly errors, and improves automation and production labor rates.

What’s the difference?

1. PCB boards and aluminum substrates are designed according to the requirements of PCB boards. At present, aluminum-based PCB boards in the market are generally single-sided aluminum substrates.PCB is a large category. Aluminum substrate is just a category of PCB. It is aluminum based metal plate. Because of its good thermal conductivity, it is generally used in LED industry.

2. Generally speaking, PCB is copper substrate, which is also divided into single panel and double-sided panel. The main material of PCB board is copper, and the main material of aluminum base plate is aluminum. There are obvious differences between the two materials.Because of the special PP material, the aluminum substrate is superior to PCB in heat dissipation.
